Vacaciones de Spring Break 2021

Con algo de pendiente (como lo hice desde que empezó la pandemia) pero ya a unos días de tener la máxima protección de la segunda dosis de la vacuna Pfizer hice el escape habitual de vacaciones de primavera (Spring Break). Siguiendo cerrada la Unión Europea y el Reino Unido (entre otros lugares) quise ir a conocer sus legados en Estados Unidos (entre otras cosas que se atravesaron). Empezando por Cleveland, Ohio:

Cincinnati, Ohio y el norte de Kentucky (Covington y Newport):

Philadelphia. Vine aquí de regreso porque cerraron los museos unos días antes de que llegara para vacaciones de Thanksgiving. En aquel entonces encontré Longwood Gardens para entretenerme todo un día, pero ahora los museos gracias a Dios estaban abiertos:

Agradecido de tener estas oportunidades, siempre sigo con la esperanza de que vienen días mejores.

Second Pfizer dose

I left school at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, March 2nd for two reasons: it was an early-release day and the rest of the morning was either ISS (where another teacher is with me) or virtual classes. How would I know how many more doses would be available for this massive booster shot at Ratliff Stadium in Odessa, Texas? I lined up at the corner of Andrews Highway and Loop 338. It took me about three and a half hours. I made it back to school at around 1:40 PM. I was about 10 minutes late for afternoon staff development. The end of the afternoon ended with a mild to moderate headache that stopped after taking a pair of Aleve pills. I still feel a little muscle soreness on the injection site, but less than what I felt right after the first shot. 

It might be a little early to think about spending a summer in Europe this year, but I might be the right time to move to a place where I can continue teaching science, a place to hug trees (without being a tree-hugger) and have easy access to non-stop flights to almost any place on this planet, a place where friends and family will feel like visiting. God willing.

Primer dosis de la vacuna Pfizer

Me la pusieron hace unas siete horas. Siento como si nada hubiera pasado. No me ha crecido una cola y me late que no tengo microchip para que puedan rastrearme. Espero que esto se repita para la segunda dosis.
